Book Review : Keisha Sarang - Eye Shadow (2011)

Don't judge a book by its cover. And I mean like, literally speaking ^^; From the cover, this Keisha Sarang's masterpiece, "Eye Shadow", looks pretty much thrilling. Well, at least one will expect to read something dark, gloomy, emo, with some paranormal activity ingredients here and there.

Reading the first chapter, the second chapter, and suddenly there it was. The ghost of a dead misterious neighbour of whom Nara, the star of this book, saw from her apartment room. She was having a crush on him after just meeting for a few second and after that she kinda missed him and all and well, he was dead. Too bad though, the writer should just focus on the ghost story instead cause it will be more suitable with the creepy cover thing.

Anyways, having read the next chapters, I found that this girl is pretty much bitchy, a typical beautiful airhead. Tends to fell over some guys (including the dead neighbour ghost) and having so many affairs. Then at the end of the day she realized that her true love is the one that she can't have. Well, in a positive way, I can say that, don't be such a bitch, you'll regret it someday! ^^;

Another thing bout this book. It's got a very nice layout page, decorated with patterns and all. Yet, it's also full of information aside from the labile main character whom you'll instantly detest once you read this book. It's got so many Korean glossaries, with meanings too. So, you can read and learn Korean at the same time. Not just that, you'll find many tour and travel information about Korea and the type of Korean cars you can rent to accompany your trip when you've got more money. Quite handy isn't it?

However, I found so many grammatical errors when it comes to English thingie. For instance like, "I hate wait you Jindo! Always!" (p.23) It makes me wonder if real Korean has broken English thing or is it just because both writer and editor went on a "traffic jump" while editing this book.

In conclusion, I suggest you not to buy this book when you're looking for something good but do buy this book when you want to have a trip to Korea.
